Tents of Mercy is one of the ministries that Patricia King & XP Missions supports on a monthly basis and they recently shared how they helped to celebrate this pivotal holiday with those they serve among.

They gathered 250 people, most of them living in poverty, both Jews & Christians, Israelis and Palestinians – a wonderful unity among them all.  They ate, sang songs, laughed and played.  They also distributed food to the poor and shared what they had with these people.

Marty Shroud, the leader of this organization, says it best:

“To lend a hand and be a blessing to those in need in the name of Yeshua is a great privilege. Following in the tradition of Jewish Passover, charity provides an occasion to shine our light and affirm our place within the community.  As a local Messianic Israeli organization, Tents of Mercy stands within the community. We are not those helping from outside – we are friends and neighbors joining others to make our community a happier and more prosperous place.”

We’re convinced that the Lord brings us the best people to share these short-term missions trips with – people full of faith, full of Jesus’ love, and just plain fun!  They come from around the world and some weeks, we’ve had up to 9 nations represented, all carriers of God’s life and His glory.

Time is spent in prayer and worship, then serving the local people in a variety of ways – distributing food to the poor, praying for the sick, prayer walking the border towns where trafficking is rampant, playing with the children & sharing Jesus with both words and action.

We are called to PRAY and to GO!!!

Divine Inheritance is an amazing organization that works to help save these children from their current conditions and place them in homes, where they can receive a normal life of a child.  There are homes throughout Southeast Asia, but they often cannot refer to specific locations, due to security reasons and fear of recrimination from the existing factions of soldiers and/or drug lords.

The children attend school and learn basic life skills, such as help to plant and maintain gardens for their food, and even get to participate in a simple sport like soccer (football to them!).  Simple activities that many take for granted in the West, but are a rare treat for these abused children.

Please pray for these children, along with the dedicated people that often place themselves at risk to rescue and care for these children!

One recent activity is the opening of the new Learning Center there – this multi-purpose building has been equipped with computers, and the children of all ages are now learning how to use them. Imagine the delight of a child that has been raised in abject poverty, living in a mud hut without electricity and then now being able to learn how to use a computer!  This will assist in their learning, as well as equip & prepare them for future jobs.

Two new teachers have been hired for the Learning Center children, and this place has also become where they receive their meals and one of the skills they’re also acquiring is to learn to properly use cutlery!

For those of us in the West, we cannot imagine how far these precious children have come from their previous lives.  And it’s all because of the prayers and support of people around the world, people just like YOU!
