The Lord is calling more and more people to the international harvest field, and we’re happy to be a part of serving that calling. God is opening the doors for the XP team to serve long term in the Poipet, Cambodia region, and we’re happy to say that we’ll be hosting numerous outreaches there, starting at the end of this year and into 2012.
Poipet City is on the border with Thailand, located on the Mekong Highway, and international trade route and is a gateway for commerce, but unfortuantely, also a gateway for illegal commerce, such as trafficking women and children. It’s an area that needs a revelation of the Lord about His Love and how His justice works – hence the name, Operation Justice.
These XP outreaches are set up in order to serve a variety of outreach lengths – anywhere from one week to three weeks long. They will run from Sunday to Sunday of each week, enabling people to come/go for the combination of weeks they’d like!
The outreaches will host a variety of activities:
- praying at the border and along the city and village streets
- praying for the sick
- serving at the exiting children’s homes
- helping to establish micro-enterprise (gardens, fish ponds, chickens, etc)
- serving meals to the sick in the health clinics (HIV, TB clinics)
- door-to-door evangelism, etc
- ministering in the villages, children’s activities, etc
Pray about joining the XP team for a time of serving God’s Kingdom purposes in the nation of Cambodia! Visit this page for more details: http://www.xpmissions.com/cambodia_outreaches_xpteam.html
God brings us all kinds of amazing Kingdom-minded people to work alongside, and Fred & Dianne Doell are two of those special people in the lives of the XP team.
Fred & Dianne Doell started Mercy Center as a way of reaching out to the children that were falling through the cracks of the system in Pattaya, Thailand, where they lived and had planted a church to minister to the internationals there. They now host a variety of programs, from a full-time children’s home with 20+ full-time children, a preschool daycare, a school-sponsorship project, a slum ministry providing food and basic medical care to the people living in the slums as well as many other smaller ministries in the region.
During our Operation Extreme Love School in Pattaya, we love to partner alongside Fred & Dianne & the Mercy Center team, helping in practical ways with their children, their buildings and their slum outreaches, plus we pray & play with their children and prophesy over their staff. It’s all part of how we can hold up the hands of the people serving long-term in Pattaya, Thailand, when we just come in to serve for a week or two.
Watch this amazing video, sharing more about what Fred & Dianne Doell do to share the love of Jesus in practical ways with the people in Pattaya, Thailand.
Cambodia is a nation that remains in darkness and despair. Not only was it devastated by the internal Poi Pot regime in the 1970’s when approximately 1/5 of their people were brutally slaughtered, but there has been much ongoing darkness with the lack of value of women & children in their culture, along with very loose family & sexual boundaries.
These issues, along with the prevailing poverty, have made Cambodia one of the international hotbeds for human trafficking, both for sex and for other forced labor. When the value of a human being is undermined, then the culture carries with it an ‘anything goes’ mentality and horrific abuse of the weak and vulnerable follows.
Somaly Mam was a women caught in that abuse in her early childhood and adult years, and she shares her story in a powerful and moving autobiography, The Road of Lost Innocence. This book gives you some insight into some of the prevailing conditions in the region and about how trafficked people think and feel. The organization Somaly Mam started, AFESIP, is a widely-recognized charity in helping give care and dignity to thousands of women and children caught in sex trafficking. Although it is not from a Christian perspective, it certainly carries the Father’s heart of justice perspective and this book will open up your heart to increased prayer and intercession for these precious people that Jesus loves.
Please join us as we pray for Cambodia and the weak and the vulnerable still caught in the snares of human trafficking there.
